You don’t know what to do with that old magazine, the plastic box or that empty tin? Why don’t you do some magic, like Kusum did. Make a beautiful paper pipe stand with these ready-to-throw materials. As we all know, cutting and gluing is great fun!

THE THINGS YOU NEED

  1. One or two old colour magazines with thick shiny paper.
  2. An empty tin or plastic box. It can be circular or square.
  3. Adhesive (like fevicol)
  4. A pair of scissors

HOW TO DO IT

Step 1

Take out a page from the magazine, the brighter the better. Keep the scissors and adhesive handy.

Step 2

Now hold the paper from one edge and start rolling it in the shape of a pipe.
Do not apply too much force while rolling, or the paper will get flattened and will no longer look like a pipe.
The pipe should be of even thickness, so do not fold loosely.

Step 3

When you reach the bottom corner of the paper stick it with adhesive. Now it looks like a pipe with pointed ends.
For a box, which is 4 inches in height and 3 inches wide, Kusum made 35 such pipes. You are free to decide on the number of pipes according to the size of your box.

Now you need to cut the pipe according to the height of the box — 4 inches in Kusum’s case. Cut off the extra bits from both ends. Now it really looks like a pipe. Take care that you do not cut off the glued corner, or the pipe will unfold.

Step 4

Now apply the adhesive on the surface of the box and start sticking the pipes on it, one by one.
If you want to decorate your pen stand a little more, try sticking glitters or satin ribbons or anything else you like.
