Steamer
By Saakshi Khanna; Illustrations by Shinod AP
The things you need:
1. A soapdish
2. An empty tin can
3. Candle
4. Matchbox
5. A piece of thin wire
6. A metal cap
Step 1: Take the cover of a soapdish (one without any holes) and make two holes on parallel sides as shown in the figure.
Step 2: Insert the wire through the holes knotting it at both ends.
Step 3: Fill the tin can with little water and secure the cap tightly. Make a hole on top of the cap as shown in the figure. Place the can on top of the wires of the soapdish.
Step 4: Slice the candle and place it on top of the metal cap. Place the cap at the base of the soapdish beneath the metal can and light the candle.
Your steamer is set for her maiden voyage.
Leave it in a tub filled with water. As the water in the can heats up, the steamer begins to move. The steamer will need re-fuelling from time to time. So take care.
