Pitara scouts for TV & CTV houses
Publication: The Times of India Date: April 26, 2001
Pitara Kids Network has entered into a series of tie ups with Indian & Overseas toy dealers, book publishers and gift manufacturers in the US, Europe, Korea and Japan, to design an exclusive on-line store for children. The company recently launched its new site, e-shopping mall.
The company's Founder & CEO Mr. Ajay Jaiman told the Times Of India that the on line store would feature a wide range of books for both domestic and overseas publishers besides a spectrum of high-tech toys and other gift articles. "The interesting part is that each book will be thoroughly read and screened by a team of editors before it is put on the Net with a view to eliminate any sort of pornographic, racial, obscene or violent material", he said.
Jaiman said E-shopping mall would help parents (and children) in buying on the basis of age, brandname, budget and learning skill. It would also provide a secured shopping experience as it safeguards any information about the consumer using it through encryption technologies.
Pitara is also in dialogue with Indian & overseas television and cable TV operators for syndicating its various animated products for broad casting. "We are in talks with a couple of TV houses and cable TV operators in the country and overseas", he said. The company plans to introduce the pay version of its Internet Security Software, Krowser in June.
So far, the software that has been used also as browser was available for free.In India, the product would be priced in the range of Rs.900 to Rs.1,200. As per a recent IDC estimate, the Internet safety software is expected to be pegged at $1.3 billion by 2003.
