Pitara opens cyber mall for children

Here's something for indulgent parents. Pitara Kids Network Pvt. Ltd., which runs the children's portal pitara.com, has launched pitarashop.com, an online shopping mall for kids.

The pitarashop is for "concerned parents who constantly go through frustrating shopping experiences due to lack of informed choices", according to officials at pitara.com.

The pitarashop is segregated into various catagories like a book shelf, a toy chest, software lab, and baby zone. The baby zone for exemple, showcases a range of products for mothers and babies, while the toy chest has a collection of toys and games.

These key shop sections are catagorised according to the age and interest levels of the child. And the products are placed at the shop window after a "through edtorial review", officials at pitara.com said.

According to Mr.Ajay Jaiman, Founder & Chief Executive Officer, Pitara Kids Network, "What sets this e-shopping experience apart is that Pitara can leverage its domain experience to provide a well-researched selection of products along with product reviews and recommendations."

In addition to such tools like a reading ability guide and a play stage guide, the pitara shop will offer advanced search tools to help parents find toys or books by age, type, brand name, or price range.

We started out with the objective of offering the most the most discerning shopping experience for parents and children. But it looks like we will also end up offering the widest selection of products to this audience, "Mr. Jaiman said.

Another concept the pitarashop is pushing is that of gift coupons,which will allow parents and children to choose gifts of their choice.

The portal's primary audience comprises children under 13 years, while its secondary audience comprises parents, teachers and school.
