Bouvet Island in the South Atlantic is the world's most isolated island. It is 1,700 km (1,050 miles) away from the east coast of Antarctica. The most remote, inhabited island is Tristan da Cunha in the South Atlantic. The islanders' closest neighbours live on St Helena, some 2,120km (1,320 miles) away.
