My Garden

There’s a garden in my house
A garden full of flowers
I love to be there all the time
And spend just hours and hours

There are roses, every kind
And lilies in the pool
Sunflowers looking trim and bright
And jasmines white and cool.

There’s a lawn of velvet grass
So soft and oh so green
Like a carpet beneath my feet
The nicest I have seen.

There are bulbuls, parrots too
And koels in the tree
And sparrows, sparrows everywhere

Roses

Roses in the winter time
Roses in the fall
The roses in my garden
Are the nicest of them all

Some prefer the jasmines
The champaks on the tree
Or the lilies in the pool
But it’s the rose for me!

The wild roses climbing up the wall
Which hang in clusters white
The sprawling bush of roses pink
Which looks so trim and bright

The pale rose with a curly edge
The yellow rose so coy
The lilac rose with streaks of mauve
The red, ablaze with joy

Don't Throw the Seeds Away...

It makes you healthy,
It gives you energy,
An apple or a guava
An orange or a papaya
Eat a fruit everyday
But don’t throw the seeds away.

Here’s a simple thing you can do
You could tell all your friends too!
Plant the seed in the soil
(It doesn’t take much time or toil)
Pour a little water there
A young shoot will soon appear.

In time it’ll become a big tree –
Which gives so much to you and me!
This way there’ll be forests again
Green and clean our earth will remain.

The Lily Pool []

We have a little lily pool
With lilies pink and white
And though they look so fresh by day
They mostly bloom at night

The leaves are round and dusky green
With an edge that often curls
And when there’s water on the leaves
They look like drops of pearls

Come and see our lily pool
And sit there – like I do
See the lilies blooming bright
I know you’ll love them too!

The Gardener Bird

Look at this nest. Doesn’t it remind you of a hut? It is built by a bird with an appropriate name. It is called the gardener bird. It works hard at building its house and decorating it.

And, after building the house, it makes a garden around it.

The gardener bird likes colourful objects. So, its house is always surrounded with colourful flowers and shells. These objects are not just thrown together haphazardly. The bird arranges them very carefully and even tries out different patterns before deciding on the final look of the garden.

Want to have a family of your own? A green family? All it takes is a little water and sunshine to entice this green family to spread its roots!

The things you need:

Empty containers of different sizes
Wheat seeds
Soil
Water
Poster colours
Brush

Step 1: Fill three-fourths of all the containers with garden soil.

Step 2: Spread a handful of wheat seeds on the soil. Cover the seeds with another layer of soil.
